(1) what types of photos do you shoot?
My photography has taken me to a variety of different places… I am up for ANY type of photo shoot and willing to travel to areas that are unique or special to you.
Many of my clients have experienced special “moments” in an unlimited number of different settings; both indoors and out. My clients often want to recapture these moments through my photography.
Weddings, engagements, children, newborns, and maternity photo sessions are the most requested, but I have been recently invited to take pictures at formal dinner parties, business conventions, birthday parties, and bridal showers. I have also been asked to shoot for several sporting events, musicals, and various advertisements. My personal favorites are weddings and engagements, there is nothing like being surrounded by love every weekend!
(2) how far in advance should i schedule my photo session?
I like to plan the “smaller sessions” (engagements, kids, birthday events, etc.) two weeks in advance: Monday thru Friday after 4 o’ clock — weather pending of course. Weddings are best-scheduled 3 months in advance.
If my schedule is open the day of your selected date, I’m all yours! I understand that things can change quickly and life can become hectic so I am very flexible – whatever works for you should work well for me!
I am big on communication… Once you are scheduled, I will keep in contact with you through email/call/text a few days prior in order to make sure we are on the same page.
(3) do you print?
As of right now, I do not print pictures. You will receive a CD or USB and an online gallery full of sharing capabilities containing all of the edited photos along with a copyright release form.
(4) do you travel?
Yes, I love traveling and would be more than willing to go anywhere to share your experience.
When travel is involved, I do charge a minimal mileage/accommodation fee. (But don’t worry—my travel fees aren’t anything crazy!)
(5) what should i wear?
Wear whatever feels comfortable for you! I do urge you, however, to stay away from brightly patterned clothing, temporary fads and/or loud logos.
(6) where do you get your ideas?
As I’ve said in the “About Carissa” section — taking photos is my life’s passion… I do a lot of reading and I spend a lot of time searching for new ideas and inspirations. I take great strides to stay current with past, present, and future trends in fashion, visual arts, and photography.
I am CONSTANTLY keeping up with The Knot, GQ, Vogue, etc. for inspirational ideas.
I also take a lot of time critiquing and perfecting my own work at the end of the day in order to note any improvements that I can make… There is always room to learn & grow.
